Advanced Cognitive Psychology

The CogPsych course was a different experience than other CCT courses I had taken up to that point. It was closer to an undergrad course in which you try to master a body of information to build up a basic store of knowledge. This course did that, alright! Many of the topics in the course were of interest to me and I enjoyed doing the coglab activities each week. I selected the items below because they demonstrate the analytical requirements of the response papers.

Each person in the CogPsych class had to take a couple of turns at leading the discussion during the semester. I was intrigued by one of our assigned texts, The Emotional Brain, by Joseph E. LeDoux. For my discussion, I found the article below in which LeDoux appears as one of the proponents for a drug called propanolol, which may help to suppress trauma victims' memories. It is one of those double-edged swords - for the reasons I cite in my notes below the article.
