Becoming a Graduate AssistantNinaG.jpg

I was fortunate to become a Grad Assistant during my sabbatical year at UMass Boston. I had the great pleasure of w orking with Nina Greenwald, whose energy, creativity, and dedication to the CCT Program made the partnership a very productive and fun undertaking. My tasks as a GA were varied and ranged from the clerical to the creative. I designed flyers for the Open Houses and arranged for the room and the food; I kept the CCT database up to date; I emailed students with reminders of important dates and hounded them for items for the CCT Directory; I made phone calls, performed troubleshooting for the aging Macs in the offices, and innumerable other tasks - large and small. The work with Nina (and later with Peter Taylor) wonderfully complemented my academic work in the Program and gave me a wider perspective on the whole CCT experience than I think I would have gained otherwise. I fell into the role of "administrative assistant" fairly easily - and thoroughly enjoyed helping to make things run smoother and more efficiently. A good boost to the ego! The items below were selected to give some idea of the variety of tasks I helped with.

My "To Do" lists give some idea of the daily tasks that I performed:
